Hello everyone,

Has anyone tried to get funding from BAFA for an air-source heat pump? The seasonal performance factor is set so extremely high that it seems practically unattainable.

That was also not a problem for us: Panasonic WH-MDC05f3e5

It works with a standard outdoor temperature of -10°C (14°F). Where do you live? However, if you live in an area where the standard outdoor temperature is colder, you won’t have a chance anymore (which is somehow also a bit discriminatory ...).

It also worked at -14°C (7°F).

Could you possibly share the data from your annual performance factor calculation? With the heat pump you mentioned, you are not even close to reaching 4.5 at -14°C (7°F).

Maybe something has changed? It was quite a while ago. There was a thread in this forum that explained what information was needed to determine the eligible annual performance factor.

However, I can’t even find the link to the annual performance factor calculator right now.

Edit:
I found the calculator again, and it also mentions that something was changed.
Of course, that’s annoying—when I enter my data there, I don’t get 4.5 either.
I think it used to be different.

As a groundwater heat pump? How did you set it up, and what values were used to calculate the annual performance factor?

When I calculate using a heating limit temperature of 12°C (54°F) (new building) and a standard outdoor temperature of -14°C (7°F) for our region, I can’t find any Tecalor units with better values than our heat pump, or even close to an annual performance factor of 4.5.

We have a THZ 504 with inverter technology.
In the common calculation tools, we never got values above 4.5; I think 4.2 was the limit. But for the subsidy, it doesn’t really matter what comes out, as they probably don’t calculate correctly for every system. We got the calculations directly from Tecalor/Stiebel and sent the figures to BAFA.
