Hello,

I made a mistake in the layout of our bathroom that can no longer be reversed. We originally only needed 10-11 sqm (108-118 sq ft), but now it’s 13.5 sqm (145 sq ft). We have no idea how to arrange it now. Attached is a schematic floor plan with the wastewater pipes marked (the blue dots).

It should include:
- walk-in level shower (1 m (3.3 ft))
- double washbasin
- toilet
- bathtub (1.90 x 0.80 m (6.2 x 2.6 ft))
- 1-2 smaller cabinets for some towels

Our idea was to place either the bathtub or the double washbasin in the niche and build a drywall T-wall construction with the upper drain pipe, hiding the toilet and shower behind it, with either the double washbasin or bathtub in front. There are two windows on the right wall, each 1 m (3.3 ft) wide, all other dimensions are interior measurements. The lower window opens in the opposite direction (I only had a simple tool).

Since the space is more than enough for us, we also considered installing an infrared cabin for 1-2 people. But that’s where we run out of ideas. How could something like that be fitted in there?

Are the windows floor-to-ceiling or what is their approximate size?

And are there any sloped ceilings?
If so, please mark the 2m (6.5 ft) line.

@Climbee thanks, I completely forgot. The windows are standard, about 1.26m (4.1 feet) high with a sill height of 1m (3.3 feet). I don’t have the exact measurement, but the lower window should be about 0.18m (7 inches) away from the wall, so when opened, you probably won’t be able to install a mirrored cabinet behind it, maybe just a regular mirror (if necessary at all). There are no sloping ceilings, and the room is approximately 2.66m (8.7 feet) high.

I have now tried using Roomsketcher. What do you think?

Neither of them 🤨

For example, in the attachment, the width of both windows must be changed so that the total window area reaches 1.69 m² (18.2 sq ft) 😉

I think the lower window is hinged the wrong way. Since it appears to be a city villa, moving or altering the windows from the outside would likely have visual drawbacks. The room is large, so fitting a nice bathroom in there shouldn’t be a problem at all.

I would consider how the family members will want to use the different areas simultaneously. If two or even three people need to use the bathroom at the same time in the morning, the toilet and shower should be somewhat more private and not directly visible to others.

You may need to ensure that the appliances producing wastewater are located close together, as otherwise, you might require two soil pipes (waste stacks). Where is a soil pipe currently planned, or where could there be space for one? Ideally, it should run down in the utility room or in the kitchen area where the sink is. Otherwise, you might end up with numerous wastewater outlets throughout the house.

Bauexperte’s idea, for example, is a way to visibly separate the shower and toilet. Also, not everyone sees the washbasin immediately.
