I’m considering whether to have my bathroom designed by an interior designer or try it myself. The construction itself is not the issue—I can handle that. What I want is a somewhat more unique or well-coordinated bathroom.

I trust myself to put the "pieces" together, but when it comes to choosing the individual components, I’m usually not very confident. It’s important to me that everything works well together. From what I’ve seen in photos online, it seems like an interior designer is the better option, since it doesn’t look like just anyone randomly picked the components.

But how does it work exactly? Can I have an interior designer create a bathroom design, provide all the necessary items, and then install everything myself? I know this can be done with kitchens, so I assume it’s possible with bathrooms as well.

I’ve already looked for some inspiration online—there are plenty of pictures, but it seems there’s no real “shopping list” available anywhere.

So, how did you do it?

P.S. I basically have the budget to get a concept created, though of course there are limits, unfortunately 🙂

Do you know any websites where I can find ideas and inspiration? Most sites I find show just this or that, but not a place where I can browse 5 or 6 bathrooms at once.

Is there maybe a program that lets you experiment with different components and also see how it would look?

A common approach is to visit various bathroom showrooms, where consultants can assist you in selecting combinations of faucets, tiles, and sanitary ware. Larger showrooms (or even some smaller ones) have bathroom designers who can create a 3D plan of your bathroom with the appropriate interior fittings.

New build or renovation?

Okay, thanks for the information. It’s not really an old building, but it’s not a new build either. The house is 30 years old. The bathroom itself was renovated 5 years ago. It’s tempting to just tear everything out 😀

So, old building after all 🙂
