I fully agree! For exactly the reasons mentioned above, we would have liked to build a standard design house as well. However, some of our specific needs and wishes could not be accommodated within any existing floor plan—no matter which provider we looked at.

Have you checked whether any of the proposed building designs were derived from your custom plan? (A builder does not necessarily have to invent their catalog from scratch; they can also generally verify their custom designs to ensure they are "fit for purpose" – whether the family line started with the chicken or the egg ultimately makes no difference to the benefit of the hundredth user of a reality-checked design).
