xerano88Hello everyone,
I am planning to convert the attic. Currently, there are 200mm (8 inches) insulation mats with a vapor barrier on the concrete floor.
The roof is a hipped roof with 240mm (9.5 inches) rafters and an underlay membrane, which has openings for pipe penetrations, for example (see attached photo).
My idea is to install WLG032 compressed mineral wool insulation with a vapor retarder foil and then counter-batten it with boarding so that I can attach drywall panels.
The attic has no windows and none are planned to be installed. It will only be used for storing electrical devices and occasionally as an emergency space for guests.
Access to the attic is via a pull-down staircase and there is no additional ventilation.
Now for the main question:
Do I need to provide ventilation for the created space to prevent mold growth, or is the vapor retarder sufficient?
