Hello everyone,
I wanted to install a flap instead of doors on a lowboard with a Besta carcass. Can I screw the hinges onto the bottom panel (centered on each compartment) instead of the side walls, or is the panel hollow at the edges as well? For this, the base panel of the carcass would at least need to have a solid frame (chipboard).
Maybe someone knows how the base panel is constructed or has done something similar before.
Regards,
Frank

You’re closing the flap from bottom to top, against gravity. Or do you plan to throw the flap upward with force and then dampen it? The dampers are designed to cushion the weight that falls with gravity, but in your case, gravity is pulling in the opposite direction.
Hmm, I’m not sure if the hinged flap on the kitchen wall cabinet works from top to bottom either. No idea.
To prevent rattling, you could attach a thin felt strip.

Hi,
Thank you first of all for your effort.
The flap should slowly open downwards and stop at about 90 degrees. For this, there are so-called brake flap holders that need to be mounted on the side of the flap. That’s basically not a problem, but I’m not sure if the hinges will hold on the base plate. I’d rather not try this out without caution and risk damaging the plate, so I’ll probably just use the flap holders from Ikea.
