Does anyone have experience and can share insights on quality? Also regarding ease of installation and similar aspects... The Astra models are said to be spread apart vertically during installation, while the Garant models are not...

We were offered both at the same price...

Thank you

According to Google, one can of Soudal is enough for two door frames... I have to order eight anyway because I only have three door frame clamps, and I might get into political trouble if something goes wrong during installation ^^

Oh, you can also foam afterwards using “regular” construction foam. It’s much cheaper. The spot reinforcement with the high-strength 2K foam is usually enough for the actual installation. The sound insulation isn’t significantly different from standard foam.

I was glad I only had to deal with the mess once; no amount of cheaper foam would have convinced me to do it again.
For me, the 2K foam was usually enough for full-surface foaming. For soundproofing, you don’t really need to completely fill everything perfectly; a consistent thin “layer” is enough. 2 cm (0.8 inches) of this foam insulates better than the highest-quality soundproof door ever could.
The only time I had to open a second can was for the 21 cm (8.3 inches) thick door frame inside the supporting wall… and I ended up throwing away 50% of it.

The claim that one can is supposed to be enough for two door frames won’t help you, because according to the instructions it must be fully used within 5–10 minutes. You can’t remove the clamps and reposition a door that fast. So don’t hesitate to use an entire can on one door frame—it won’t hurt.

Oh, and make sure to get the door frame foam remover as well, just in case of any spills. I had to sand down and repaint a wall 😉

Oh... Yes, that must be prevented ^^

What does the professional use there? Soudal/Würth/illbruck?

If I remember correctly, my father-in-law used Würth. However, he himself said that it is relatively expensive. I think I also once saw Illbruck with him.

Yes ;-)

It depends on the professional’s preference. The products are interchangeable.
