Does anyone have experience and can share insights on quality? Also regarding ease of installation and similar aspects... The Astra models are said to be spread apart vertically during installation, while the Garant models are not...
We were offered both at the same price...
Thank you

If you try to adjust the height by spreading the frame, and you fail, the frame will warp and you won’t be able to fix it afterward. The manufacturer will point to incorrect installation according to the instructions, and you’ll have to pry the door out again, which is quite a messy job.
Aligning with horizontal spacers is already tricky enough; you don’t need one or two more spacers vertically.
Make sure the rough opening measurements are correct before the construction company packs up and you’re left alone in the house. I was naive and thought, if it doesn’t fit, I can quickly chisel it away since it’s aerated concrete... but that turned out to be a sweaty and time-consuming “quick fix,” and all the dust on the freshly installed floor was no fun either 😀

Which foam would you recommend? Soudal?!

Benutzer 10013 Nov 2023 09:29Whichever one you choose, please apply foam insulation across the entire surface, not just at specific points. This provides a bit more soundproofing.
By the way, you can also do the foam sealing afterwards using "regular" construction foam. It's much more affordable. The targeted reinforcement with the high-strength 2-component foam is usually sufficient for the actual installation. The sound insulation is then not significantly different compared to standard foam.
