Hello dear forum members,

I have been a silent reader for quite some time and have already learned a lot.

Now I am planning a new house myself and I am wondering which suppliers actually offer a monolithic wall construction system.
Perhaps you can help me.

Thank you very much

What is the downside of a standard wall construction?

I wouldn’t commit too early. Just walk through some show home developments and see what you like. It doesn’t help if three companies are suggested here, and none of them fit your needs because *insert reasons*.

I actually consider the monolithic construction method to be the "standard," while anything involving insulation or cavity walls seems "unusual" to me. Maybe @fragg would like to share his thoughts on this. ;-)

I also consider the monolithic construction to be the “classic” approach.

I want to have the wall clad with facing bricks.
My preference would be a monolithic wall structure with brick cladding.

It doesn’t help me much to walk through show villages where there are no houses that match my ideas.

We are not yet talking about the floor plan or anything similar.

So having the exterior walls both monolithic and faced with brick veneer would be like using both a belt and suspenders at the same time...
Besides, the thermal insulation would either be insufficient or the walls would become extremely thick, not to mention the additional costs.
Brick-faced masonry is usually cavity wall construction: load-bearing masonry, then a gap with metal ties connecting the brick veneer, and insulation in between. This is basically the "standard" where I live.

Instead of plaster, he can use thin brick slips for cladding. That would work. Maybe that’s what he means.
