Hello everyone,

I recently bought my first IKEA furniture piece (Brimnes bed) and now face the challenge of assembling it with my limited DIY skills. Unfortunately, I ran into some problems fairly early on. Specifically, I tried to assemble the "bed cross" using the plastic (!) cam connectors. It actually holds quite well, although I expected a firmer fit. However, when I slide the slats on the long side of the frame under the cross, the connection I made with the cam connectors sags. Is this how it’s supposed to be, or is it acceptable? I’m a bit concerned that this might not be intended and that the bed’s stability could be affected. Has anyone else had similar experiences with this bed or know of any tips that could help?

I would really appreciate your help, otherwise, I might have to sleep on the floor after moving.

Hello Raebschen,

I was able to solve the problem by having the bed assembled by more skilled people.
I believe the issue on my end was that I pressed the cam screws too hard into the cam before tightening them. In the end, you should fit the parts together without much force and then tighten. The cam lock should hold the parts together without any gaps.

Best regards,

Great,
thank you very much. I think I’ll have to take the bed apart again.
I hope it works out.
