Hello everyone,

I recently bought my first IKEA furniture piece (Brimnes bed) and now face the challenge of assembling it with my limited DIY skills. Unfortunately, I ran into some problems fairly early on. Specifically, I tried to assemble the "bed cross" using the plastic (!) cam connectors. It actually holds quite well, although I expected a firmer fit. However, when I slide the slats on the long side of the frame under the cross, the connection I made with the cam connectors sags. Is this how it’s supposed to be, or is it acceptable? I’m a bit concerned that this might not be intended and that the bed’s stability could be affected. Has anyone else had similar experiences with this bed or know of any tips that could help?

I would really appreciate your help, otherwise, I might have to sleep on the floor after moving.

Hello, I can't imagine how something could sag there. Could you upload a photo?

I have not assembled the BRIMNES yet, but I believe that the two crossboards should fully rest against the long board once all four cam locks are tightened. Drilling may sometimes be slightly off. The centers of the large holes must be exactly 34mm (1.3 inches) from the edge of the crossboards.

Thanks for the information! I will measure it carefully. By now (after I disassembled everything again), the cam lock (No. 119030) doesn’t engage at all anymore.

Can these cam locks be purchased individually from Ikea, or do you always have to order the entire screw/parts set for the bed?

Hello,
unfortunately, I have the same problem.
Were you able to solve this issue somehow?
My bed is assembled, but it is not stable. You can hear every movement.
Thanks for the information.
