Hello everyone,
A few weeks ago, I fitted my IKEA KALLAX shelves with the matching doors and noticed that at least one of the doors became loose relatively quickly. The locking mechanism no longer seems to hold as firmly under everyday use as it did initially. My question for you: have your KALLAX doors also become loose after just a few weeks of use? If so, how do you handle this issue, and is there a specific trick or adjustment technique that really helps? I have already adjusted the doors several times, but the looseness always seems to return.
I would appreciate it if you could share your experiences, especially regarding durability and everyday use, so I can judge whether this is a general issue or if I might have made an installation error.

Take about half an hour, tighten the screws, apply a small drop of threadlocker, and properly adjust the doorI agree with this – with a bit of patience, it really holds up well.
I have adjusted my KALLAX doors so that they are tight but not too firm, to prevent the material from warping. This can be done using the small adjustment screw, which is often overlooked.
If the door still feels loose despite these steps, it’s worth checking the hinges themselves – IKEA often uses softer materials for the cheaper models, which can slightly deform over time.
In summary: regularly inspect, make minor adjustments, and fix components with threadlocker if needed – this can significantly extend the lifespan.
Does anyone else have experience with how the doors hold up under frequent use over several months?
