Hello,

in our new build, we have different types of flooring. On one floor, we installed glued hardwood flooring, with cork strips used as expansion joints. On the other floor, we laid so-called cork laminate flooring, installed as a floating floor. Originally, we wanted to use cork strips here as well, but we were told this is not advisable and that after some time, the floor would lift. A transition profile would be unavoidable.

Is this true, or are there any alternatives?

With floating floors, you always need a transition profile. But even here, there are elegant and unobtrusive options, as well as the typical hardware store strips that you might easily trip over.

Any recommendations? The standard aluminum parts are really ugly.

In the upper floor, we also installed floating floors and used these: Proline finishing profile PROCOVER Designfloor. They are quite unobtrusive. On one side, there is always a tile, so it’s a transition from fixed to floating floor.
