Hello everyone, I am currently looking into how to make our Ikea Platsa furniture childproof, as we will soon have a toddler in the house. My specific question is: Are there any child safety devices that Ikea offers specifically for PLATSA furniture, or that work particularly well to secure the individual modules and drawers against unwanted access by children?
It is important to me that the safety devices are sturdy, compatible with the modular elements, and ideally easy to install and remove. Perhaps someone has experience with using PLATSA together with common child safety products, or even insider information on whether Ikea provides its own solutions for this.

I completely understand how frustrating it is when little ones get especially clever trying to reach the valuables. đ
A small tip from my experience: instead of just installing locks or safety devices, I also find it helpful to make the furniture a bit less attractive to children, for example by not storing anything valuable or edible there â this helps divert their attention.
And yes, mechanical safety measures are the way to go, but a little humor in the daily struggle doesnât hurt either! đ

I can easily understand how stressful this issue can be. Our daughter recently started opening drawers that were, of course, not childproof.
In addition to mechanical child safety locks, I anchored the furniture to the wall because tipping over is a major hazard. The Platsa units can be securely fixed with the appropriate wall fasteners.
Maybe this could be an important addition for you as well, Leopu.

Without this measure, accidents can still occur despite safety locks. Please be extra careful during assembly and follow the Ikea instructions for wall anchoring.
