Hello everyone,

I recently purchased some furniture from Ikea’s Hemnes series. The pieces are made of solid pine, partly stained and lacquered, and I want to care for them properly to keep them looking good for a long time and to protect them from scratches, fading, or moisture damage.

My question is: Are there any specific care products that work especially well for Ikea Hemnes wood to optimally preserve its surface, color, and texture? I’m particularly interested in recommendations for gentle wood oils or lacquers that are not too harsh and help maintain the natural appearance without over-saturating or sealing the wood excessively.

I look forward to hearing your experiences and tips about which care products have proven effective or which ones should definitely be avoided.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Does anyone have experience with specific care products that actually strengthen the finish or have restorative effects without altering the natural wood appearance?

I had Hemnes furniture for many years and had good experiences with wax-based furniture care pastes. These minimize the appearance of micro-scratches and create a protective layer. It is important to apply the pastes thinly and to clean the surface thoroughly before application.

Additionally, felt pads under heavy items help prevent scratches. UV protection is generally less of a concern indoors, as long as the furniture is not constantly exposed to direct sunlight.

For repairing small scratches, special wood repair pens or kits designed for finished furniture are also suitable and are available in color-matched shades. Avoid aggressive sanding, as this can damage the finish.

In conclusion: With regular, gentle care and minor repairs, Hemnes furniture retains its attractive appearance remarkably well over time.
