Hello everyone, I recently purchased a Brimnes furniture piece from Ikea and am now wondering if there are any specific care instructions I should follow to maintain its durability and appearance. I am particularly interested in advice on cleaning, preventing damage from moisture or scratches, and general tips for proper maintenance. Does anyone have experience or know details beyond the standard cleaning recommendations? I am especially looking for tips that help treat the material and surface of the BRIMNES as gently as possible. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

If you like, you can write something about the room usage so I can address specific loads.

Thanks for the offer, deoke. I have the Brimnes wardrobe model, which is placed in a bedroom with moderate humidity (between 40-60%) and I mainly use it to store folded clothes. Occasionally, I also store lightweight textiles there, but never damp or wet items.

The surface is mostly used as a storage area, but I have moved the wardrobe before, taking care not to scratch the floor.

If there are any specific cleaning tips or care products suitable for this environment, I’d appreciate hearing about them! I assume the humidity won’t be a big issue, but I want to be certain. Also, I’m interested if any special caution is needed for maintenance considering the wardrobe is opened and closed daily.

I’m also curious whether special care is needed if the cabinet is opened and closed daily.

In fact, that is a point I underestimated. The hinges and edges can experience wear from frequent use. With my BRIMNES bed, I noticed that the edges of the sliding doors need a bit more delicate handling.

Therefore, my advice is: regularly check that screws are still tight, and avoid bumping the edges with sharp fingernails or jewelry.

I don’t think small maintenance with furniture wax or polish is necessary and it could even damage the surface, as it is already smooth and sealed.

I hope this helps!
