Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to install an IKEA Platsa cabinet system at my home. I am wondering if there are any special beams or brackets suitable for wall mounting Platsa units, beyond the usual small wall profiles that IKEA provides. My goal is to securely and permanently attach the system to the wall, possibly also to better distribute heavier loads, especially for taller modules.
Has anyone had experience with such special beam or bracket solutions for Platsa? Are there official IKEA accessories for this, or do you recommend alternative mounting systems that work well with Platsa? Any advice on load capacity or recommended installation methods would also be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your tips!

Hello kadra63,
to summarize your question again: There are no official beams or large brackets specifically offered by IKEA for wall mounting Platsa.
For high safety, I recommend:
- Additional sturdy brackets or rails from a hardware store or specialist supplier
- Very precise determination of screw and anchor length suitable for your wall
- If needed, connecting multiple units with metal strips to better transfer forces to the wall
Also a tip: IKEA’s installation partners often use extra support systems that are not included in the standard delivery, especially for complex setups. This shows that custom solutions are quite common.
If you like, I can also create a detailed step-by-step guide for mounting with multiple fixings.

For wall mounting, it is recommended to use a combination of
- heavy-duty brackets,
- flat steel profiles,
- or mounting rails (e.g., Unistrut) from specialized suppliers. I agree with this. Especially for tall or heavily loaded PLATSA systems, distributing the load evenly across the surface is important. The standard IKEA brackets are often not sufficient for this.
It is also crucial to accurately determine the load-bearing capacity of the wall (e.g., brick, concrete, drywall) during installation. Using the wrong anchors or screws can lead to dangerous situations.
My advice: invest in high-quality mounting materials and, if necessary, reinforce the modules by connecting them with brackets to each other to prevent twisting.
