Hello everyone,

A few weeks ago, I started using IKEA Platsa furniture in my family home, mainly because of its flexible assembly options and modern design. However, I am now wondering if there are any specific safety precautions to consider with this furniture to prevent accidents in daily life, especially with children around.

I am interested in practical advice on how to stabilize the furniture, child-friendly assembly methods, and whether IKEA has issued any special safety mechanisms or recommendations for Platsa that go beyond the usual wall fastenings.

Are there safety measures for IKEA Platsa furniture in family homes to reduce risks from tipping or loosening? I look forward to your experiences and tips!

Just as an addition: IKEA offers separate anti-tip safety devices that can be used additionally.

Also, non-slip pads can be placed under the furniture to prevent them from sliding easily on smooth floors.

However, wall mounting is the most important safety measure.

If I understand correctly, connecting the modules to each other is at least as important as securing them to the wall?

Exactly, you got that right. I would like to emphasize that when connecting the modules to each other, it is recommended to use the original connecting elements from IKEA, as they are specifically designed for the system.

Where wall mounting is not possible, the only solution is a particularly stable connection between the units and, if necessary, additional reinforcements. For heavily loaded areas, metal brackets can also be installed; these are not visible but increase safety.

Another idea: if the floor is uneven, adjustable furniture feet should be used to keep the furniture stable and prevent wobbling.

Hey! It’s great to see that you’re taking this topic seriously! Especially in family homes with young children, safety is absolutely the top priority.

Just a quick reminder: Whether it’s Platsa or other furniture, make sure you take the time to securely fasten it to the wall! I was careless once and got quite a shock because the furniture almost tipped over.

Here’s a little tip from my experience:
- Kids love to climb, so try to keep furniture as low as possible or protect the edges.
- Installing movable door and drawer locks is also really useful, so toddlers can’t get into everything.

Always be cautious, and if in doubt, it’s better to double-check the safety measures than to take any risks. It’s definitely worth it!
