Hello everyone,

I am currently reorganizing my living and workspace and have become quite interested in the IKEA Platsa system because of its flexibility and adaptability. My question is: Are there any practical storage boxes that really fit well with Platsa?

I’m not referring to the official IKEA boxes, but rather ones that you can buy separately to complement the system effectively—matched in terms of size, material, durability, and appearance. I’m especially interested in boxes that integrate well, both for inside the wardrobe and as stackable solutions or drawer replacements.

Does anyone know of such products or have any tips on what to look for? I want to avoid half-measures or constantly rearranged setups as much as possible. Thanks in advance!

After reading the previous posts, I wanted to add that some furniture stores, besides IKEA, also offer storage boxes that can be dimensionally customized very precisely. In larger furniture stores or household goods stores, you can find multipurpose boxes with depths around 33-34 cm (13-13.5 inches) and high load capacity.

Another option is flexible fabric boxes, which are easier to adjust in size and also visually fit well with Platsa. However, these are less stable and more suitable for lightweight items.

In general, when it comes to hard plastic, it is important to pay attention to the internal dimensions of the boxes and the tolerances in the furniture. Sometimes just a few millimeters (inches) can make the difference between the box being too tight or too loose.

Hello ruoral,

your question touches on an interesting point: practical add-ons for IKEA PLATSA that are not from IKEA but fit well. I have also looked into this, as I was searching for an affordable and flexible solution.

My suggestion:
- Look for transparent, stackable plastic boxes with a depth of around 30–33 cm (12–13 inches). These usually fit well and provide good visibility.
- The IKEA VARIERA boxes might not be perfect, but they are inexpensive and combine well.
- If you want a higher-quality option, modular drawer boxes from brands specializing in modular systems could work.

However, it is always important to measure the exact interior dimensions of the PLATSA module. A small gap allows for easier handling.

So I would recommend not limiting yourself to one brand, but to focus on the optimal size and function.

I find it remarkable that compatibility is often mentioned here without any specific dimensions or tolerances being given.

I have to agree with Curtis – a lot of this is just buzzword bingo.

IKEA takes a simple, practical approach to the subject. To make it work, you don’t need to be distracted by so-called ‘special boxes.’

In my opinion, you should choose the simplest box that fits, rather than trying to perfect the entire setup. Why? Because the flexibility of the PLATSA system lies precisely in its adaptability.

Household boxes with a depth of about 30 to 34 cm (12 to 13 inches) usually serve the purpose quite well.

Those who want more are just creating unnecessary stress. So, stay relaxed and be pragmatic!
