ᐅ Are there any pieces of furniture that particularly complement the IKEA Brimnes series?

Hello everyone,

Some time ago, I purchased the IKEA Brimnes bed and am now considering which furniture pieces would pair well with this series. I find the design quite minimalist but still modern, and I would like to know if you have any tips on which dressers, nightstands, or wardrobes would complement it nicely.

I’m less concerned about matching colors exactly and more interested in creating a cohesive overall look with practical functions—that is, something that works well both visually and functionally. Does anyone know of furniture from other collections or brands that would go well with it?

Looking forward to your experiences and recommendations!

I’m finding it a bit boring to always think within the same color family. IKEA is quite mainstream—why not try combining furniture in a warm wood tone with Brimnes?

The black or white Brimnes looks cool and neutral, so a contrast with oak or walnut can sometimes bring much more character to the room. Of course, it’s a matter of personal taste.

I love my combination of the Brimnes bed and Hemnes chest of drawers! They go really well together and add a lot of warmth to the room. Plus, the furniture is very practical with storage space. I can definitely recommend it! Make your space cozy!

I believe that placing too much emphasis on the series can be more of a hindrance. Brimnes is functional, but that doesn’t mean you can’t break up the room with more eye-catching furniture pieces.

For example, I have a striking armchair with a comic-style design next to my Brimnes bed. It works great as a focal point and creates a deliberately unconventional look.

Thank you for the many interesting perspectives!

It is important to me that the furniture remains functional and visually harmonious without making the room feel too busy. I am particularly drawn to the idea of solid wood or warm wood tones because I find that Brimnes can seem quite "cold" when using only white furniture.

At the same time, I don’t want any drastic style clashes – a certain level of consistency should be maintained. So if anyone has experience combining Brimnes with individual wooden pieces (e.g., dresser, bedside table), I would appreciate any details!

I’m happy to help: I combined a white Brimnes chest of drawers with a small oak bedside table. This works well because the bedside table has a very simple design, and the warm wood tones add coziness without being too overpowering.

From a functional perspective, it makes sense for the furniture to have similarly thoughtful storage solutions. For example, Brimnes offers many hidden compartments and drawers—if the matching furniture does not provide this, it should at least not be too dominant and remain as simple as possible.

Visually, wood can certainly be used to create focal points. However, it is best in light, natural tones, not too dark, to maintain harmony.
