Hello everyone, I am considering getting the IKEA Platsa cabinet system, but I have some concerns about the quality beforehand. Therefore, I would like to know: Are there often defects with the IKEA PLATSA system, such as misaligned drill holes, poor workmanship of the connectors, or delivery errors? I am especially interested in whether these issues are common or rather rare exceptions. Also, how is the durability once the system is assembled? Can someone share their experience? Thanks in advance!
Hello!
I bought my PLATSA system two years ago, and I have to say that using the ruler and screwdriver sometimes requires more patience than expected. ?
That sums it up very well. You have to remember that the price also reflects the quality. It is very flexible, allowing you to reconfigure everything quickly and at a fair price.
I was initially worried about defects too, but after checking all the parts, the assembly was straightforward. Of course, there are minor cosmetic flaws here and there, but overall no real defects that make it unstable. So if you pay attention to using the correct screws and assembling carefully, everything should work out.

PLATSA is not solid wood shelving, but modular particleboard with plastic connectors.

Thank you for the many honest and detailed responses!
To explain my situation: I am planning a small walk-in closet solution using two 60x37cm (24x15 inches) modules, which I want to join horizontally and then expand on top with additional carcasses. The load will mainly come from clothing, shoeboxes, and some electronic equipment. I can securely attach the units to the wall.
Since you often emphasize that the system must not be overloaded and that careful assembly is important, I want to ask again: Are there really reports of problems occurring despite following the instructions or correct installation? Or are most issues usually due to incorrect handling?
I look forward to your assessment.

Occasionally, there can be surprises such as slightly warped panels from manufacturing or minor color variations, but these mostly affect appearance rather than function.
Most dissatisfaction arises from incorrect loading, lack of wall anchoring, or handling that is too fast and careless during assembly.
If you properly size your modules and follow the instructions carefully, the chances for a durable system are very good. When in doubt, IKEA usually replaces damaged parts without any issues.
