Hello,
we are currently having our house built...
I noticed that the drywall in every room is the same type, including the bathroom.
However, they are NOT the green boards. Are there other moisture-resistant drywall panels available?
They say "Rigips Vario 125" on them—I hope I read that correctly...
According to the house builder, these are also suitable for wet rooms!?
What do you think?

Best regards

According to this manufacturer, only the green series is suitable for wet rooms. Text from the promotional brochure: "The boards have an impregnated gypsum core and green facing paper. The impregnated gypsum core prevents moisture from penetrating easily. Compared to a standard gypsum board, the core-impregnated board absorbs only one-tenth of the water within 24 hours."

Thanks for the quick reply.
Is there anywhere I can read that ONLY the green boards are suitable for wet rooms?

Hello Tim,

The Rigips Green System was specifically developed for moisture-resistant interior construction in residential areas, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and similar spaces. The Green System consists of VARIO impregnated joint filler combined with Rigips Multiboard, Rigips Die Grüne, and other green Rigips moisture-resistant boards, as well as Rigips liquid waterproofing membrane, Rigips sealing tape, and Rigips sealing collars. It is the ideal waterproofing solution under ceramic coverings.

Only the green boards are suitable for moisture-prone rooms.

Hi,

okay, that already sounds bad :-/
What does this VARIO mean? It’s also written on my drywall panels.
What happens in the worst case if these panels are not moisture-resistant? Do they swell, or how should I understand this?

Does a kitchen really count as a wet room???

Oh dear, then we probably have the wrong drywall boards installed. Although our builder said we could use the "regular" white ones for the kitchen and only the green moisture-resistant ones for the bathroom.
