Hello everyone,

I am planning to get an IKEA Platsa wardrobe system and wonder if there are already versions of these models with integrated lighting. I am not just referring to the classic LED strips that you can purchase separately and retrofit, but to modules that come factory-equipped with lighting – whether in the form of built-in lamps, integrated light bars, or other lighting solutions directly installed within the furniture.

I am particularly interested in whether IKEA itself offers such solutions for Platsa or if this system generally requires external light sources. Does anyone have experience with this or can confirm if there are Platsa models with integrated lighting, perhaps with direct references to relevant IKEA article numbers or installation instructions?

Thank you in advance!

The Platsa series is currently not offered by IKEA with integrated lighting.

- The modular range is designed for flexibility and customization, which means that interior lighting can be added using separately available LED strips or light fixtures.
- IKEA offers LED lights under the product lines "LILLHULT" and "Omlopp" that can be flexibly integrated into Platsa cabinets, but these are always accessories and not built-in standard models.

The main advantage of Platsa is its customizability—integrated lighting requires additional options or third-party lighting solutions.

If anyone has more detailed information, please feel free to add.

I can only agree with that. I recently assembled a Platsa shelving unit and added lighting using small LED strips.

Alternatively, IKEA offers integrated lighting specifically for glass doors, for example in the BESTÅ series, which can be connected directly to the cabinet. However, I did not find this option for Platsa, as the focus there is more on pure storage solutions without electrification.

If integrated lighting is a must, it’s better to check other IKEA series or accessories.

I find the question interesting and would like to point out that IKEA keeps the lighting options for Platsa quite simple for design and cost reasons.

That explains why we don’t see Platsa modules with integrated lights, as the system is deliberately designed to be modular and affordable.

I understand that not everyone wants to do retrofitting, as it can be inconvenient. However, those who do often gain more flexibility in lighting options (warm white, dimmable, etc.), which is usually not possible with integrated solutions.

So it mainly comes down to personal preference and willingness to do some DIY, in my opinion.

In short: No, there are no Platsa models with factory-installed lighting.

Lighting can only be added through accessories. Those who want integrated lighting need to choose other furniture systems or external solutions.
