I am currently planning a new cabinet system and have been looking at the IKEA Platsa series. My question to the community is: Are there any versions or accessories for the PLATSA furniture that allow for soft-close doors?
It is important for me to know whether soft-close hinges come standard or if there are reliable retrofit options that fit well and work dependably.

Currently, there is no official IKEA Platsa version with integrated soft-close doors. For retrofitting with soft-close hinges, Blum and Hettich are the most common and reliable brands. However, caution is advised when working with Platsa because:
- The drill holes on Platsa doors do not always match the standard 35mm (1.38 inch) diameter cup hole and are sometimes offset.
- Installing universal hinges may require additional work such as drilling or adjustments.
In everyday use, many users report satisfactory soft-close performance when the hinges are installed correctly. The damping works reliably and significantly improves comfort. It is recommended to test a sample hinge before purchase.
If you want the soft-close function professionally installed and without modifications, it is probably better to choose other IKEA systems such as Metod or Besta, which come with soft-close features as standard.

It takes a bit of tinkering, but the result is great: no more loud slamming, everything closes smoothly and quietly. I used Blum hinges, which fit perfectly for me with a little adjustment.
It’s definitely worth it, especially if you have small children or sensitive neighbors. Just give it a try and don’t get discouraged!
