Hello everyone,

I have a specific question regarding the Ikea Platsa furniture series. Are there Platsa products designed with increased storage space, meaning pieces that offer taller or deeper compartments or drawers compared to standard models to provide more volume for storage? Perhaps models where the storage capacity can be expanded or optimized with special components?

I am specifically looking for versions developed for users with higher storage needs and would appreciate any reliable information from personal experience, the Ikea range, or product details.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes, PLATSA offers taller frames as well as various depths. For example, you can choose higher cabinet units or adjust the depth.

Additionally, drawers are available in different heights, allowing you to customize the storage space.

To add to my previous answer: Ikea PLATSA is modular and actually offers different cabinet sizes that can significantly change the storage capacity.

- The cabinet depths vary, for example, from 35 cm to 58 cm (14 inches to 23 inches), which adjusts the storage space depending on the model.
- There are also taller and shorter modules, each with compatible doors, drawers, and shelves.
- Especially effective is a combination of wider and deeper units with additional drawers instead of just shelves, as drawers make better use of the storage space.

Thanks to this flexible design, you can certainly assemble furniture with considerably increased storage volume, even if Ikea does not explicitly promote it as a “special model.” When configuring, however, be sure to pay attention to maximum load capacity and stability with larger elements.

If desired, I can gladly recommend typical configurations that work well for maximizing storage.

That already sounds really helpful! I’m also thinking about how to organize my apartment to get more storage space without using a huge wardrobe that just feels overwhelming.

How well does the flexibility work in practice? Are these different heights and depths easy to combine?

I imagine it might be challenging to make all the parts fit together if you want to add more later or need different dimensions. Do you have any experience with how PLATSA furniture works—especially regarding appearance and stability?
