Hello everyone,
I am planning to build a new shelving unit using Ikea Platsa furniture but am a bit uncertain about the assembly options. Specifically, I would like to know: Are there Ikea Platsa pieces that can be assembled entirely without screws? So far, I have only seen the standard versions, which usually require screws, dowels, and connectors for assembly.
Are there any variants, special modules, or additional systems that allow for a screw-free build? If so, can this also be stable in the long term, or are these mainly suitable for lighter applications?
I look forward to your insights and experiences – a detailed explanation about assembling Platsa without screws would be greatly appreciated.

For clarification: Ikea Platsa typically uses metal screws and connectors for assembly to ensure the necessary stability. So far, there are no officially offered Platsa furniture pieces with a completely screw-free assembly.
Snap-fit connections, such as those sometimes used in Ikea Malm or BESTÅ, are structurally different and are not applicable to Platsa due to its modular, load-bearing frame design.
Modifications or conversions that enable screw-free connections require significant effort, including sourcing new fasteners, which voids the furniture’s warranty and compromises its safety.

In addition to draleo: The Platsa series is designed so that screws are necessarily required to connect the individual modules, especially due to load-bearing requirements and the height.
There are no assembly options approved by Ikea that completely avoid the use of screws. If you try to replace the screws with alternative fastening systems, overall stability will suffer, and the furniture could become unsafe.
An alternative would be entirely different furniture series that offer plug-in connectors.

For Platsa itself, using screws is essential to ensure its high load-bearing capacity.

Does anyone know about such components, or is this purely theoretical? This is more theoretical when it comes to Platsa.
You can find plug-in systems in other furniture, but Platsa is designed differently and relies on secure screw connections.
