Hello everyone,

I am currently planning to get a new wardrobe and have been considering the Ikea Pax series. Since I have a rather small bedroom but still want to keep my clothes well organized and easily accessible, I am especially interested in the option of an integrated pull-down wardrobe lift.

My main question is: Are there actually wardrobe solutions or interior fitting options within the Ikea Pax product range that include a wardrobe lift? If so, how exactly do they work, what sizes are available, and what is the quality and load capacity like?

I would appreciate some information to help me decide whether this is a worthwhile investment for me or if I should consider another system instead.

Thank you in advance for your insights and experiences!

Exactly, here’s a reminder about motivation! A pull-down wardrobe rail is brilliant if you want to make full use of your closet space!

I installed one in a Pax wardrobe – the difference compared to regular wardrobes is huge. You can easily reach the top items, and everything looks much neater.

The most important thing: choose a pull-down rail that is well-made and easy to operate. A cheap model will break quickly, which would be a shame. Good luck with your project!

Are there any recommendations on which closet lifts work well with Pax wardrobes, or if there are specific installation considerations to keep in mind?

The top priority when installing is to properly match the interior depth and width of the Pax frame. Ikea specifies an interior depth of about 58 cm (23 inches) for Pax, so your closet lift should be adapted accordingly.

Many aftermarket closet lifts are modular and offer flexible customization options. It is important to take precise measurements before purchasing and to not exceed Ikea’s specified weight limits — the frame is sturdy but not designed for heavy industrial components.

I would recommend choosing providers that already have positive reviews for installations in Pax wardrobes. This way, you can be confident that the components will work well together.

If you want to install a clothes lift in an Ikea Pax wardrobe, you should always check the exact measurements. Not every lift fits, so pay attention to the depth and width.

Also: The load capacity of standard lift systems is usually sufficient for regular clothing, but not for heavy coats or bulky jackets.

Clothes lifts are not a standard option with Ikea Pax. It’s best to buy a clothes lift separately and install it yourself. These systems are often universal, but make sure to compare dimensions!

Thanks to everyone for the helpful contributions!

I’ll summarize again:
- The Ikea Pax system does not come with an integrated pull-down wardrobe lift.
- Aftermarket solutions from third-party manufacturers are available and commonly used.
- You need to pay attention to the dimensions, especially depth and width.
- A load capacity of 10–15 kg (22–33 lbs) is standard and should be sufficient for clothing.
- The quality of the lift and professional installation are important for durability.

Now that I understand this better, I will look for suitable lifts with good reviews that fit the Pax system. If I have any more questions, I’ll get back in touch.

Thanks again for your time and the discussion here!
