Hello everyone,

I am currently considering getting a new Pax wardrobe from Ikea and have a fairly specific question: Does Ikea offer Pax wardrobes that come standard with glass doors and also have integrated lighting? I am mainly interested in optimally displaying items I want to store in the wardrobe, as well as achieving a modern and consistent look.

It is important for me to know whether this combination of glass doors plus integrated lighting is offered directly by Ikea, or if I would need to rely on aftermarket solutions.

I would appreciate any experiences, recommendations, or specific information on suitable models and their availability.

The integration is more intended for retrofitting; as far as I know, a so-called "integrated" lighting system built directly into the door is not part of the Pax standard.

I agree. You have to purchase it separately and install it on your own.

Additionally: For lighting, there are also motion sensors from Ikea that automatically turn the LED strips on and off when the door is opened or closed. This makes operation very convenient.

Just briefly: Ikea does not offer Pax wardrobes with factory-installed glass door lighting. That is always an accessory.

If you want, I can give you some tips on which models I used and exactly how I installed them.

That would be great! I would appreciate an example process or a brief guide on how to optimally install lighting in a Pax wardrobe with glass doors.

It would also be helpful to know whether it’s necessary to use Ikea’s own light sources or if comparable LED strips from other manufacturers can be integrated without issues regarding dimensions or installation.

Sure, happy to help:

- Step 1: Measure the wardrobe dimensions and select suitable LED strips – for example, IKEA offers "Mössing" or "OLTARP" LED light strips that are tailored to the wardrobe width.
- Step 2: Position the strips mostly at the top or on the inside side panels; adhesive tape on the back helps with installation.
- Step 3: Route the cables along the back panel, using cable clips to keep everything neat and secure.
- Step 4: Connect to the power supply, often via a simple plug connector or, if the wardrobe is closer to the power outlet, using extension cables.
- Step 5: Motion sensors and dimmers can be added if desired; IKEA lights are typically designed to be compatible with these.

Regarding your second question: You can generally use LED strips from other manufacturers as well, but be sure to check the dimensions, voltage (usually 12V or 24V), and mounting method. The most effort usually comes with the power supply, which is often specific to IKEA components. For a fully integrated setup with minimal hassle, IKEA parts are usually best matched.

To be honest, I have never seen an offer where this is combined. Lighting is always additional and must be installed by oneself.
