Hello everyone, I have a specific question regarding the IKEA PAX wardrobes: Are there currently any models or accessories from IKEA that have integrated lighting built directly into the PAX system? I am not referring to separate LED strips that need to be installed separately, but a factory-installed solution that is incorporated into the wardrobe design. If anyone has experience or knows whether IKEA officially offers PAX wardrobes with built-in lighting, I would greatly appreciate detailed information. Thank you in advance!

I am especially interested in whether anyone has experience with how “seamless” the IKEA lighting works in everyday use – is permanently wiring it inside the wardrobe complicated?

The wiring itself is not difficult, as IKEA designed everything to be modular and straightforward. I equipped the PAX wardrobe with the LED strips and used the supplied clips to secure the cables. You hardly see anything if you use the interior walls to hide the cable routing. If you pay attention to angles and corners and position the strips well (e.g., on the sides or the top rail), the result is discreet and very practical. If desired, you can also use thinner cables or connectors from hardware stores to further improve the appearance. Important: Make sure to have a safe power supply and the correct current rating.

Hello, I just wanted to encourage you that it can definitely be fun to install lighting in the PAX yourself! 🎉

I find the IKEA lighting very flexible, and if you take a little time, it fits really well with the furniture. I used the LED strips in my cabinets—they’re very slim and hardly visible. With a motion sensor on the door, the light turns on exactly when you need it. For me, it was a small investment with a big gain in comfort and appearance! So, go for it!

In summary: IKEA does not offer PAX wardrobes with built-in lighting from the factory. However, there are compatible LED strips available as accessories that can be installed independently. The cables are usually flexible enough to be routed out of sight. For automatic control, additional motion sensors or switches are needed.
