Hello everyone, I have a specific question regarding the IKEA PAX wardrobes: Are there currently any models or accessories from IKEA that have integrated lighting built directly into the PAX system? I am not referring to separate LED strips that need to be installed separately, but a factory-installed solution that is incorporated into the wardrobe design. If anyone has experience or knows whether IKEA officially offers PAX wardrobes with built-in lighting, I would greatly appreciate detailed information. Thank you in advance!

Hello PIRIMI, IKEA generally does not sell PAX wardrobes with built-in lighting directly from the factory. However, IKEA offers a range of integrated lighting components designed specifically for the PAX system. These include LED strips that can be installed on the sides of the wardrobe or inside on the shelves and boards. These strips are sold as accessories and must be installed by the user. It is important to know that the power supply for these lights is often routed inside the wardrobe through a separate cable channel and can be complemented with motion sensors or push switches. There is no fully pre-assembled version where the lighting is already permanently installed and wired.

Besides TEOZAR’s execution: IKEA only offers lighting accessories, not complete PAX wardrobes with lighting. You can purchase LED strips or LED lights that fit, but you have to install them yourself.

I would like to add that there are customer reports and guides available on how to neatly and properly retrofit LED lighting into the PAX wardrobe. During the planning phase, it is important to ensure that the lighting is connected to a central power source and, ideally, linked to a motion sensor to enhance convenience. Another tip: some users install dimmable LED strips to allow for adjustable lighting. While IKEA does not offer fully illuminated PAX wardrobes, the accessories are designed to make integration relatively straightforward.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! That’s already helpful. I’m particularly interested in whether anyone has experience with how “seamless” the IKEA lighting works in everyday use – is hardwiring inside the wardrobe complicated? And what about the aesthetics? Are cables visible, or do the LED strips look like a natural design element after installation? Does anyone have examples or tips on what to pay attention to in order to make the result look as professional as possible?

I also struggled for a long time with how to better illuminate my PAX wardrobe. The LED strips from IKEA are a good solution to make a wardrobe bright and dynamic. The wiring was a bit intimidating for me at first because I wasn’t sure how to install it neatly and hide it. In the end, I routed the cables along the back panel and secured them with cable clips – this makes them barely visible. The LED strips themselves are slim and fit well along the interior edge of the wardrobe. It was also important for me to buy and install a separate motion sensor so that the light turns on automatically when the door opens – this makes it almost feel like a factory feature. If you know an electrician or are somewhat handy yourself, it is definitely doable without much effort.
