ᐅ Are there Ikea Pax wardrobes or shelving units with especially high load capacity?

FolauHello everyone,
I am currently planning a new wardrobe system and have chosen the Ikea Pax series. I have an important question: Are there any Ikea Pax shelves or components within this series that offer particularly high load capacity?
Specifically, I am looking for a shelf or a combination that can support heavy items such as thick books, tools, or collectibles without compromising stability or safety. Does anyone have personal experience or reliable information about whether there are special versions of the Pax shelves designed for significantly higher load capacity than the standard models?
I would also like to know how the maximum load capacity is specified, whether additional reinforcements or special materials can improve these capacities, and how Ikea manages this itself.
I would appreciate any tips, advice, or experiences!

The Pax series features standardized shelves that, according to Ikea, have an average load capacity of about 25 kg per shelf (55 lbs).
- Heavier-duty shelves are not officially available from Ikea.
- The stability of the Pax cabinet frames ranges between 70 and 90 kg (154 to 198 lbs) when the load is evenly distributed.
- For very heavy loads, alternatives such as metal cabinets or modular systems with steel frames should be considered.
Ikea does not specify any modules with special load capacities; the series is primarily designed for standard residential use.

Basically: Ikea Pax units have a load capacity of about 25 kg per shelf. This raises the question for me of how realistic these figures are. It is well known that the actual load capacity is often influenced by factors such as wall mounting, installation quality, and frequent use.

Ikea itself does not specify modules with special load capacities; the series is designed more for typical residential use.I agree with that. More detailed information is lacking. Perhaps experimental solutions could help here, for example by using additional shelves made of stronger materials or by wall mounting to increase stability.
Has anyone ever made their own modifications to make Pax shelving units more load-bearing?
I completely understand how important load capacity is to you, especially when you want to store heavy items securely.
Perhaps it could also be an option to distribute the load across multiple Pax units to avoid concentrating the weight on individual shelves.
And if you decide to make custom modifications: please ensure that the stability is not compromised and that the entire unit is securely fastened to the wall.
Many users have found their solution this way, and usually a bit of flexibility in planning helps as well.
