Hello everyone,

I am currently planning a new wardrobe and am particularly interested in the IKEA PAX series, as it offers modular options that I really appreciate. My question is: Are there drawers within the PAX models that are significantly larger—that is, noticeably wider or deeper than the standard drawers, which are often designed only for smaller clothing items or accessories?

I am looking for drawers that would be ideal for storing larger textiles, such as thick sweaters, jeans, or possibly even bedding, in a compact and organized way. Who has experience with the different drawer sizes in the PAX models and can say whether there are specifically larger drawer options?

I look forward to your tips and advice, and also welcome suggestions for alternatives if you know of better solutions.

Here is a brief overview of Pax drawer sizes:

- Depth: Available in 35 cm (14 inches) and 58 cm (23 inches). For more storage capacity, 58 cm (23 inches) is optimal.
- Width: Standard widths are 50 cm (20 inches) and 75 cm (30 inches).
- Height: Various heights ranging from approximately 12 cm (5 inches) to 40 cm (16 inches) are available.

Tips for optimal use:
- Make sure to choose drawers with full-extension runners.
- For thicker clothing, a tall drawer (around 40 cm / 16 inches) is recommended.
- Combining different drawer heights makes the best use of space.

If you need especially large drawers, I recommend using the 75 cm (30 inches) wide and 40 cm (16 inches) high drawer within the 58 cm (23 inches) deep frame. This is currently the maximum size without custom modifications.

Maybe a combination of smaller drawers and shelves with boxes would be more practical than relying solely on extra-large drawers?

I agree. Often, combining drawers with fixed shelves offers more flexibility and better visibility when storing large textiles.

The largest PAX drawers measure 75x58 cm (width x depth) (29.5x23 inches). When it comes to height, you can also combine different heights, but unfortunately IKEA does not offer larger dimensions than that. For more storage space in large compartments, boxes and baskets are better suited.

I can add that the modularity of PAX lies in the ability to combine drawers of different depths and widths within the same wardrobe frame. This allows for optimal organization tailored to various clothing sizes.

Very large or specially folded items benefit more from tall drawers rather than just extra-wide ones. Additionally, attaching transparent boxes inside wide drawers is a good way to keep things organized.

If you want an especially large drawer, you can also consider removing individual shelves and instead using deep drawer containers, which are available as accessories.

I think it’s also important to consider what you specifically mean by "especially large." Often, a well-planned interior layout provides more storage space than focusing solely on the drawer dimensions.

I had similar questions at the beginning and was quite uncertain whether the standard sizes would be sufficient. By now, I appreciate the flexibility of the PAX series, which allows me to choose drawers of various heights, widths, and depths depending on my needs.

It also helped me adjust my expectations: sometimes several smaller drawers are more practical than one large one to keep things organized.
