Hello everyone,

I am currently redesigning my son’s bedroom and am very interested in the Ikea PAX series as a storage solution. Since the furniture is very flexible and customizable, I’m wondering if Ikea offers any PAX models specifically designed for children's rooms, for example in terms of size, safety, or child-friendly design?

Although I can customize the regular PAX systems individually, I would like to know if Ikea perhaps has ready-made packages or components explicitly marketed or optimized as children's room versions.

If that is not the case, I would also appreciate any tips or experiences on how to best adapt the PAX models to be child-friendly, making them sturdy, safe, and practical for kids.

Looking forward to your insights and experiences!

I would like to add to the previous comments: Although there are no Pax models specifically designed for children, Ikea offers various interior organization systems that work very well in a child's room.

For example, adjustable shelves, pull-out baskets, and drawers for toys or clothes are ideal and make the PAX system more user-friendly for children.

In addition, safety locks and corner protectors are available that can be installed to prevent injuries.

Above all, the ability to adjust the height of the components makes the system very suitable for children's rooms – for instance, it can be set lower to make access easier.

This specific variant does not exist. Ikea promotes the PAX series as a universal storage system. For children's rooms, other Ikea ranges like the Stuva series are better suited, while PAX serves as a robust system for many different applications.

When it comes to finishes, which are typically "child-friendly," you will have to choose those yourself with PAX, as Ikea designs this series in a rather neutral and timeless way.

That is correct. With PAX, you mainly achieve the children's room look through textiles, containers, or individual customization.

Briefly: No, there are no specific PAX models designed for children's rooms. I have personally used PAX in a children's room and supplemented the wardrobes with affordable storage boxes. It is important to secure everything properly to prevent any tipping.

That’s a good point! I think a mix of different heights would be ideal to make the furniture safe yet practical for children.

Can anyone provide more details on which doors for PAX are best suited for this? Are there recommendations regarding materials or designs that have proven child-safe?

Thanks in advance for the many helpful tips – I’m realizing that PAX is more flexible than I thought, even though there are no official children’s room versions. That certainly makes planning more exciting!
