Hello everyone, I have a question about the Ikea Pax wardrobe systems: Are there Pax doors that feature both a mirror and a soft-close function? It is important to me that the doors not only look good but also close quietly and smoothly. So far, I have only found doors with mirrors that do not have soft-close or soft-close doors without mirrors. Does anyone have experience with this or know if such a combination is actually available at Ikea? Thanks for your input!

The combination of mirrors and soft-close mechanisms on Ikea Pax doors is quite rare as a standard offering from Ikea. Usually, they come either as mirrored doors with the standard hinge system or as soft-close doors with smooth fronts without mirrors. However, it is possible to attach mirrors as an overlay or additional layer on the outside of the door and use separate soft-close hinges. This generally requires custom adjustments and some craftsmanship. So, as a standard option, Ikea does not typically offer this combination.

I can confirm: In the Ikea catalog, there are no Pax doors that have both. Mirror plus soft-close functionality is not available as a ready-made door. You can only get soft-close hinges for smooth doors or doors with mirrors, but those are without soft-close.

Hello Benet33, I completely understand your concern because a mirror on the door combined with soft-close is indeed a very practical combination. Ikea typically offers mirror doors without soft-close. This is because the hinges used for mirrored doors are usually traditional pivot hinges, which are difficult to equip with a soft-close feature. What you can do is buy a mirror door and retrofit it with a separate soft-close hinge system. However, this is somewhat more complex, and Ikea does not officially offer this option. Some customers have reported third-party suppliers selling suitable hinges. It is important to pay attention to the load capacity of the hinges, as mirror doors are heavier.

This is exactly my topic, as I renovated my home about a year ago and had the same question. I was also disappointed that Ikea does not offer a ready-made solution. I then decided to use regular doors with soft-close and placed a large freestanding mirror next to them in the room. For me personally, it was a good compromise because I really appreciate the soft-close feature—especially with children at home. However, I can fully understand the desire for an integrated mirror! Maybe Ikea will offer an extension for this in the future.

Here is a brief summary: Ikea does not offer Pax mirror doors with soft-close. Soft-close is only available for certain doors with smooth fronts. Mirror doors do not have the soft-close feature.
