Hello everyone,

I am currently considering customizing an Ikea Pax wardrobe, specifically focusing on security and privacy. My specific question is: Does Ikea Pax offer doors or door models with integrated locks? I want to avoid adding external locks afterwards, which often appear less than ideal or rather makeshift.

Does anyone know if Ikea offers this directly, or how it can best be achieved without affecting the appearance of the doors? I look forward to your experiences or suggestions for possible alternatives if this is not available.

To my knowledge, Ikea does not offer Pax doors with integrated locks. However, you can purchase additional locks that need to be visibly installed. If you want a discreet solution, it seems that only a retrofit option is available.

That is correct. Ikea currently does not sell Pax doors with factory-installed locks or latches.

For a secure and visually pleasing solution, there are several options:
- Aftermarket lock installations, such as mortise locks specifically designed for cabinet doors, which are mounted on the inside
- Swing door or curtain systems with key locks as alternatives
- Use of external cabinet handles with built-in locks that visually match the Pax doors

However, an integrated lock door is not included as standard with Pax, nor in the regular accessories. Installing additional locks usually requires minor drilling and modifications, which vary depending on the door model.

Additional information:

If by "integrated lock" you really mean a solution directly offered by Ikea, I have to say that such a thing does not exist. Ikea focuses more on design and organizational options for Pax; security is less of a priority.

If you are interested, I can provide a brief overview of how locking systems can be properly installed. Important points include:
- Checking door material and thickness
- Choosing a suitable type of lock (deadbolt lock, cylinder lock for furniture, etc.)
- Handling carefully in case of painted or laminate surfaces

Tips:
- Pay attention to measurements and compatibility, as Ikea doors have varying thicknesses
- Test with a sample piece before the final installation
- There are also magnetic or electronically controlled additional locks if modern solutions are of interest

If anyone has specific experience with such solutions in the context of Pax, I would appreciate any input.

I can confirm the information given so far. Ikea does not offer Pax doors with pre-installed locks.

From my experience, the following options are recommended if you want an integrated lock:
- Retrofitting a mortise or furniture lock, which is especially suitable for glass or solid doors and installed inside the door.
- Using cabinets with lockable interior doors or integrated drawer locks when individual compartments need restricted access.

If you want a very clean and durable solution, it is advisable to consult a carpenter or specialist company that can install suitable locks precisely.

In conclusion: There is currently no factory-installed locking solution for Pax doors, as Ikea mainly relies on standard systems that are highly customizable but not specifically secured.
