jepuzarHello everyone,
I am currently planning to reorganize my wardrobe and am considering getting a closet system similar to the Ikea PAX. The problem is that the dimensions of the PAX don’t fit my space perfectly, and I’m wondering if there are comparable alternatives on the furniture market with similar measurements.
My main priorities are flexible interior organization, maximum use of storage space, and a comparable depth of about 58 cm (23 inches), widths around 75 to 100 cm (30 to 39 inches), and a height of approximately 201 cm (79 inches). At the same time, the system should be modular so I can adjust it to my needs.
Does anyone know of concrete alternatives to the PAX that meet these criteria? Perhaps from other manufacturers with similar quality? Any information on scale-accurate combination options or customizable features would also be helpful.
Thanks in advance for your tips!

Interesting question you’ve raised. I find it fascinating that when it comes to wardrobes, everyone quickly thinks of PAX. Of course, PAX is a bestseller because of its modularity, but that also comes with the typical compromises you find with Ikea products.
The problem is that it’s rare to find an alternative with exactly the same dimensions, since many manufacturers define their own standard sizes and often focus more on design and technical trends rather than just measurements. And honestly, with the alternatives, you often pay more for supposed “quality” or design without it really being worth it.
My hypothesis: it makes more sense to consider whether you are prepared to accept compromises inherent to PAX itself and then remain flexible with the room layout and the interior fittings. But if you insist on matching exact dimensions, it gets difficult. Perhaps custom-made solutions or local carpenters could help?
I certainly wouldn’t write off Ikea completely, even though PAX is not a perfect solution.

I would like to approach this topic in a more structured way, as it often fails due to the lack of proper orientation.
First: The dimensions of the PAX system you mentioned (depth approx. 58 cm (23 inches), width between 75 and 100 cm (30 and 39 inches), height approx. 201 cm (79 inches)) are indeed quite specific and are not offered as standard sizes by most manufacturers.
- If you are looking for alternatives with similar dimensions, I recommend specifically searching for wardrobes with "modular slot systems" or "adjustable interiors."
- Suppliers of furniture with such systems are usually specialized dealers, but they often do not offer the widespread availability or price-performance ratio that Ikea provides.
- Be sure to check if the depth matches with the alternatives. PAX often exceeds the depth of standard wardrobes, which frequently have a depth of 55 cm (22 inches).
My tip: If exact dimensions are very important, it is worth trying the measurement and planning tools from several manufacturers. These often allow you to see whether the dimensions are adjustable and if the interior layout suits your needs. The visual and functional customization is often more important than the exact match of the overall measurements.

- Custom-made furniture by a carpenter provides maximum flexibility.
- Some furniture stores offer modular wardrobes with a depth of 60cm (24 inches), which is close to PAX.
- For widths between 75 and 100cm (30 and 39 inches), it is often necessary to combine multiple modules.
In short: conventional series furniture usually does not exactly match PAX.

Regarding alternatives to Ikea PAX with comparable dimensions, this is my assessment:
- The PAX depth of about 58 cm (23 inches) is uncommon in the market. Most standard wardrobes have depths between 50 and 60 cm (20 and 24 inches), but exactly 58 cm (23 inches) is rare.
- Widths between 75 and 100 cm (30 and 39 inches) are composed modularly. Other suppliers usually use different module sizes, such as 60 or 80 cm (24 or 31 inches) wide units.
- In terms of height, approximately 201 cm (79 inches), PAX is relatively generous; other manufacturers often offer 200 cm (79 inches) or less.
- Modularity with a plug-in system and flexible interior fittings are available from some providers through innovative connection solutions, but their pricing often differs significantly from Ikea.
My conclusion: If exact dimensions are important, custom-made options or specialized dealers with similar module sizes are recommended.
Otherwise, PAX has few equivalents regarding price-performance ratio and availability.
