Hello everyone, I am planning to assemble the IKEA Brimnes wardrobe myself soon and wanted to know in advance if there are any helpful tools or accessories that could make the assembly easier. Specifically, I am interested in tools or aids recommended for assembling this model, such as special screwdrivers, clamps, assembly jigs, or similar items that help save time or avoid mistakes. I don’t have an extensive DIY toolkit at home but want to make the assembly as efficient as possible. Are there any recommendations, depending on experience, that really make the BRIMNES self-assembly easier?

Basically, I can say that the BRIMNES wardrobe from IKEA does not require any special tools that IKEA does not already provide. The included instructions are quite well organized, and you can usually manage well with a simple Phillips screwdriver and a hammer. However, there are some aids that can make assembly easier:

- A cordless drill with adjustable torque. This helps prevent over-tightening the screws.
- Clamps or vises for holding larger parts in place.
- Small trays or containers for screws to avoid losing components.

I don’t think additional special tools are necessary for the BRIMNES, but the mentioned aids can make the process more comfortable.

I can understand your concerns well, Fi-phillip. Before assembling my first BRIMNES, I also felt uncertain at times and found it somewhat stressful. What helped me the most was actually using an adjustable cordless drill, which made handling the many small screws much easier. You simply feel more confident when you’re not doing everything completely by hand.

Additionally, I would recommend spreading everything out first and reading the instruction manual carefully before you start. Some steps are illogical or you might miss small details, so helpful tools like small magnets to hold screws can really make a difference.

What about you—do you already have the right tools, or do you still need to get some?

Thanks for asking! I do have a basic toolbox with a few screwdrivers and a hammer, but no cordless drill, which I find quite useful based on your recommendation. I’m considering buying an affordable compact cordless drill, especially because of the many Torx and Phillips screws used in the BRIMNES series. Since I might need to assemble and reassemble the cabinet more often in the future, it seems like a worthwhile investment.

Does anyone have experience with whether there are specific features to look for in a cordless drill when working with IKEA furniture?

Here are some practical tips regarding helpful tools for assembling BRIMNES yourself:

A key tool that significantly simplifies the assembly is a small cordless drill with adjustable torque. This helps prevent screws from being driven in too deeply and damaging the material.

Additionally, I recommend sorting all the individual parts and fittings according to the instructions before starting—preferably on a large table or on the floor to keep everything organized.

Small containers for screws are also useful to avoid losing them. If a screw is difficult to turn, applying a little lubricant or even some soap to the screwdriver can make turning easier.

Finally, a tip: if aligning the holes is challenging, using a protractor or even a spirit level can help. This is especially worthwhile with BRIMNES, where the doors need to be precisely aligned.

Overall, BRIMNES doesn’t require any special secret tricks, but the combination of a cordless drill and good preparation makes all the difference.

Hello, I just wanted to briefly share my experience. I assembled the BRIMNES myself using simple hand tools, without a cordless screwdriver. It took longer, but I managed to complete everything successfully.

For me, the most important thing was to be patient and carry out each step carefully.

Helper tools like small magnetic screw holders can be useful, especially when working while sitting or on the floor. However, special tools are not really necessary for the BRIMNES.

The instructions are somewhat complicated at times, so I often loaded them onto my phone, image by image. That way, I could always follow along precisely.
