Hello everyone, I am planning to assemble an Ikea Platsa system and would like to ask if anyone in this forum is familiar with common assembly defects that often occur when putting together the Platsa units. I am especially interested in issues that are not immediately noticeable but can lead to problems later on, such as incorrect hinge alignment, poor connections between modules, or assembly deviations that affect stability or the precise closing of the doors. Additionally, I would like to know how to effectively avoid these mistakes—whether there are any particular tips for preparation, screwing, or alignment that experienced builders recommend. I look forward to constructive feedback!

Thank you for the previous advice! One question: Has anyone experienced issues using cordless screwdrivers with Platsa, such as screws being over-tightened or damage to the material? I would like to know if special caution is necessary here and whether it is better to screw by hand, or if a cordless screwdriver with torque control is recommended.

Cordless screwdrivers can damage the material if no torque setting is used. It is best to keep the torque low and tighten multiple times rather than overtightening.

In small rooms, there is a tendency to install modular units closely side by side, which can affect the door opening. My advice: measure the exact dimensions at the installation site before assembly, especially regarding door hinges. Also, the back panels must be properly aligned, otherwise the entire piece of furniture may appear unstable.

To reduce installation marks, it is best to screw in all screws by hand first and only tighten them fully with a tool at the end. Also, follow the assembly sequence carefully to avoid mistakes that can be difficult to correct later.

Great question! 😊 My recommendation is definitely to use a cordless screwdriver with torque control. This way, you can avoid driving the screws too deep and damaging the thin material. If you don’t have one, it’s better to proceed carefully by hand. A bit of feel is worth gold here! It also reduces stress—for you and the furniture piece.
