ᐅ Are there carpet underlays that prevent wobbling for tall Kallax shelving units?

Hello everyone, I have a small problem with my new Kallax shelving unit: the tall arrangement wobbles slightly when I pull or push the lower shelf. I have been thinking about placing the shelf on a carpet underlay to improve stability. My question is whether there are specific carpet underlays or anti-tip devices designed especially for tall Kallax units? It’s important to me that they are not too thick and that the furniture remains secure and stable despite being on carpet – maybe there are some clever solutions or recommendations? Looking forward to your experiences and tips!
Standard metal brackets from a hardware store are perfectly fine. It is important that you securely screw them to the top of the shelf and anchor them into the wall plugs.
For the carpet, there are thin non-slip mats that can also be cut to size. Just search for “carpet grip pads” or similar; they are often only a few millimeters thick.

I experienced the same issue with my tall Kallax unit, which tended to shift on the carpet. I found it quite annoying in daily use, especially when opening or closing the doors.
What helped me was a combination of adhesive rubber furniture pads (small pieces on the feet of the shelf) and a thin non-slip mat placed under the carpet. This provides better grip and noticeably reduces the wobbling.
I would recommend securing the unit to the wall anyway. It doesn’t really affect the appearance, and it immediately gives a greater sense of safety.

Additional information regarding thin anti-slip mats: Mats made of natural latex or nitrile rubber with a thickness of 1 to 3 mm (0.04 to 0.12 inches) are recommended. These mats are thin enough to hardly change the height. Simply place the mat on the carpet surface and then put the shelf on top.
I would also suggest vacuuming the carpet and mat briefly before placing them to prevent dust particles from reducing the grip.
If you are handy: You can install furniture glides with screws and rubber buffers on the four corners to mechanically minimize rocking.

To assess the situation with my floor: the carpet is on an elastic subfloor, probably with slight cushioning. Does anyone have experience whether the combination of rubber glides on the shelf feet plus an anti-slip mat on carpet with this type of subfloor is effective?
Or should wall mounting be prioritized instead, since the subfloor probably cannot fully prevent rocking anyway?

Is the combination of rubber gliders on the shelf feet plus an anti-slip mat on carpet sensible with such a subfloor?Hey, that sounds like a tricky combination! 😉
If the subfloor is springy, then some wobbling unfortunately won’t completely go away. Wall mounting is really the magic solution – then nothing moves along with the floor.
But feel free to try the gliders plus a thin mat first. That can improve stability before you start drilling. And with a wink: if it wobbles, at least it’s never boring 🙂
Good luck!
