I am currently wondering if there are better instructional videos for assembling Malm furniture than the official ones from IKEA. The videos I have seen so far sometimes seem a bit superficial or skip important details, which can become problematic, especially with more complex pieces of furniture. I’m not only referring to the quality of the visuals but also the accuracy of the steps and the coverage of common pitfalls. Does anyone have experience with alternative tutorials or recommendations that provide practical and easy-to-follow guidance?

It's great that you bring up this topic! 🙂 I recently assembled Malm cabinets myself and I'm really impressed by a YouTuber who explains the steps in much more detail than IKEA. He also shows how to avoid common mistakes, and you can tell he really knows his stuff. Just search for "Malm assembly complete"—it's definitely worth it! Your furniture will be rock solid afterward!!!

I recommend specifically searching for assemblies with comments. Official IKEA videos are often brief. It is best to create a list of the critical parts and look for separate tutorials on those. This way, you can get more detailed information.

The official instruction videos from IKEA are standardized and cover only the general assembly steps. For more complex furniture pieces like Malm, I recommend additional videos that specifically address common assembly mistakes, such as incorrect screw usage or improper component sequence. From my research, channels with user reviews are especially helpful, as they provide specific recommendations and technical details. This helps to reliably avoid questions and assembly errors.

That sounds interesting! Which channels are those exactly? Do you perhaps have specific examples or links? Because it’s especially important for me to see the usual mistakes in detail so I can get started correctly right away and not have to review everything again later.

An important tip: When watching videos, pay attention to whether they also address the sorting of individual parts before assembly. In my experience, this saves a lot of time and prevents errors. Some videos skip this step, even though it is essential for larger series like Malm. Additionally, there are instructions that not only demonstrate the use of the provided tools but also suggest alternative tools if available.
