Hello everyone,
I’ve recently been thinking about making my Kallax shelves more flexible, and a question came to mind: Are there flexible back panels for Kallax inserts? I imagine a solution where I don’t always have to use a rigid back panel, but something flexible that can bend around the corners of the shelves or be installed in a curved way.
My main goal is to visually lighten up the shelf and possibly have more options for custom installation situations. Ideally, such back panels should still be sturdy enough to support the stability of the shelf boards.
Has anyone had experience with flexible back panels for Kallax? Are such products available, and if so, how well do they work in practice? What should be considered during installation?
Looking forward to your opinions and tips!

If they are too flexible, it could affect stability. That is an important point. The back panel in Kallax inserts is made of rigid plywood or MDF, which additionally provides stability. If you choose flexible solutions, you need to make sure that the back panel is not only decorative but also supports the frame’s stability.
So far, I am not aware of any specific flexible back panels for Kallax. If you want to build something yourself, flexible plastic sheets could be an option, but keep in mind that stability might be compromised.
