MANKUHello everyone, I am currently about to assemble my new IKEA Hemnes wardrobe and was wondering if there are any assembly tips to make the process faster and, above all, more efficient?
I have already looked at the instructions, but some steps seem a bit awkward. Especially inserting the screws and wooden dowels doesn’t always go smoothly for me.
Are there any specific tools, techniques, or aids I can use to speed up the assembly without compromising stability or the final result?
Maybe some of you have experience with special methods or procedures I should keep in mind? I’d appreciate any advice!

For faster assembly of the Hemnes wardrobe, I recommend the following approach:
- Sort all parts in advance and cross-check them with the instructions.
- Use a cordless drill with adjustable torque settings; avoid over-tightening the screws.
- Lightly coat the wooden dowels with some wax or soapy water just before inserting to make it easier to fit them.
- Insert screws loosely at first and only fully tighten them at the end to ensure perfect alignment of the components.
- If possible, assemble the wardrobe with two people, especially when handling heavy individual parts.
These steps save time and ensure a stable result.

Basically, it makes sense to break down the assembly of the Hemnes wardrobe into separate steps and prepare each one carefully.
- First, clear a generous workspace and sort all screws, dowels, and panels. I like to use several small containers here to keep everything organized.
- You should read the instructions completely, as some steps are connected and an early mistake can cost a lot of time later.
- My tip for inserting the wooden dowels: lightly sand them with fine sandpaper, so they fit more securely and are easier to install.
- For screwing, it's best to use a cordless drill with adjustable torque to avoid over-tightening or under-tightening the screws.
- When mounting the doors, make sure the hinges are aligned precisely; otherwise, you’ll need to readjust, which takes time.
What does your current tool setup look like? Are you working with a cordless drill or just a screwdriver?

I can understand well that the assembly can be frustrating. What helped me was going through the instructions thoroughly before starting. Just take it step by step and remember to pause and take a breath now and then.
It can also be frustrating when something doesn’t fit, but it’s worth sticking with it. Are there any particular parts that seem especially complicated to you?
