Hello everyone,

I have a specific question about repairing IKEA Brimnes drawers: Is there anywhere to find detailed construction instructions or step-by-step repair guides specifically focused on the mechanics and assembly of the drawers of this model?

I am mainly interested in fixing the drawers myself, as some of them stick or have slightly damaged sliding rails. I’m looking for help not only with disassembly but also with renewing sliding rails, screws, or targeted troubleshooting for warped parts.

Does anyone have experience or perhaps printed or digital guides that specifically cover these aspects?

Thanks for asking! The issues with my drawers mainly involve two points:

- First: On some of the slides, the small plastic rollers are either worn out or occasionally break off when pulling the drawers out, causing them to stick.

- Second: Some of the metal rails appear slightly bent, which slows down the smooth sliding of the drawer.

I don’t want to replace entire drawers immediately, but rather optimize or replace the roller parts and slides selectively. However, I haven’t found any repair-specific manuals online so far.

Does anyone perhaps know detailed repair guides that, for example, provide step-by-step instructions on how to replace these plastic rollers or how to properly realign bent slides?

You can usually replace the plastic rollers easily if you fully remove the drawer. To do this, you may need to partially loosen the guide rail.

Bent metal guides should be carefully reshaped using pliers or a similar tool. Be careful not to break anything.

Oh yes, I’m familiar with that from my Brimnes drawers! 😊

My tips:

- Unscrew the drawer and lay it flat on the floor
- Carefully pull out the tracks; they are often secured with small metal clips
- You can simply pull the rollers forward out and insert the replacement part
- If the tracks are bent, gently bend them back to their original shape by hand, making small adjustments gradually

I’ve done this myself several times and it works really well, even without an official guide. If you want, just take it step by step—you’ll definitely manage!

For a repair guide for BRIMNES drawers: There is no official one. Simply remove the drawers, clean or replace the rails, and replace the rollers.

Carefully straighten any bent rails. Spare parts are often available through IKEA.
