ᐅ Are there construction guides for Pax wardrobes without using the Ikea instructions?

Hello everyone, I have a specific question regarding the IKEA Pax system – are there actually assembly instructions for the Pax system that completely do without the official IKEA manuals? I don’t mean poorly copied PDFs or photos of the original instructions, but rather alternative, possibly professionally developed or more detailed assembly guides that can be used if the original manual is lost or if someone prefers a different approach to building. Has anyone had experience with this or knows where to find such instructions? I’m especially interested in versions that don’t follow IKEA’s specifications but instead use general furniture-building principles or tips for DIY construction of Pax-like wardrobes in the same design.

Oh, I find this topic really interesting! One could almost say that Pax is like a modular system for furniture cabinets. If you completely break away from IKEA instructions, you could actually get quite creative. Creating your own alternative build guides is probably more a project for true furniture-making pioneers or DIY enthusiasts. Maybe it’s worth analyzing the types of screws and fastening systems to then build something of your own? But of course, if you miss the convenience of an IKEA instruction manual, that’s a different story.

That's definitely an interesting question! 😎 I imagine you can create your own guide fairly well by re-measuring and relying on experience with wood joinery, especially if you’re comfortable working with angle brackets and metal rails. Essentially, a Pax is just a system of carcasses, rails, and doors – so you can manage if the official instructions don’t suit you.

From a structured perspective, there are no fully independent, comprehensive assembly instructions for the Pax system that have been officially released by IKEA. Pax is a patented modular system with specially adapted components, which is why the company offers its manual as the only reliable source. Alternative assembly guides are usually based on individual measurements or DIY constructions, which can vary greatly in quality.

Those aiming for a stable modification or customized conversion should familiarize themselves with basic furniture construction techniques and consult specialized literature on modified cabinets or standard modular solutions. Alternatively, a carpenter with experience in furniture making can be consulted.

Exactly! So go for it if you feel like getting hands-on. For me, it makes sense to simply get inspired and experiment with the tools. You can do it! 💪

That’s exactly my plan – I’d rather build a slightly more complex custom version than just follow the IKEA instructions blindly. Your assessments are very helpful in realistically gauging the limitations and possibilities.

I’m going to try creating my own sketch now, incorporating common furniture-building techniques. If I succeed, I’d be happy to share an alternative assembly guide for Pax here – maybe it will encourage others to explore their own approaches as well.

Thanks again to everyone!
