Hello everyone, I have an issue with my IKEA Besta drawers that I use daily. I’ve noticed that over time, they become increasingly difficult to open and close, which makes handling them quite unpleasant. This is especially noticeable when the drawers are fully loaded or when small dust particles accumulate in the sliding mechanism. My question is: Are there any proven tips or tricks to make the IKEA Besta drawers operate more smoothly and easily without having to replace the entire mechanism? Maintenance advice, possible modifications, or recommended care products would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!
Hey Timmy, I totally understand you! Dragging or stiff drawers can be really frustrating. But with a bit of patience, you can often fix them quite well. In my experience, after thoroughly cleaning the slides and treating them with silicone spray, the drawers moved almost like new! Give it a try, you’ll be surprised! And don’t be afraid to clean them properly – it’s definitely worth it! Good luck with that!

try spraying the rails with WD-40.WD-40 might seem like a magic fix at first, but I tried it on my Besta drawers – the thing is, if you use too much, it gets sticky quickly, which can be really annoying, especially with dust. It’s better to use good old silicone spray or drawer lubricant.
It works well—the cleaner and better lubricated, the smoother the opening. Sometimes a slight adjustment also helps. So, give it a go!

I recommend the following step-by-step approachI find this really helpful because it clearly shows that you don’t always have to replace everything right away. Thanks for the detailed explanation!
In my case, the issue was that I never properly cleaned the tracks. Sometimes it’s definitely worth investing a little time in maintenance. If the drawers still don’t slide more smoothly, I usually try to stay calm and tackle the problem bit by bit instead of getting frustrated. It really helps me to hear that others have had similar issues and that there are solutions.
