Hello everyone,

I am planning a move soon and want to protect my Ikea Besta furniture as best as possible, especially during transport in the moving truck. The furniture consists of modular cabinets with mostly large surfaces and relatively delicate edges. Does anyone have experience or tips on the best way to pack them to avoid scratches, dents, or other transport damage?

I would also be interested to know whether it is worth fully disassembling the cabinets or better to transport them whole, and how to properly secure the individual parts. Thanks!

One more note regarding the actual transport:

- Once the parts are fully polished and protected with covers, they should be stored as horizontally as possible. Large panels placed upright may flex or crack under stress.
- Transport the surfaces ideally with the smooth side facing inward or with sufficient padding in between.
- Avoid handling or bumping furniture directly on the edges, as these are particularly vulnerable.
- Finally, it is advisable to use not only ratchet straps but also anti-slip mats to prevent shifting during transport in the moving vehicle.

Summary: Dismantle, cushion well, sort, secure.

Otherwise: Remove doors, apply edge protectors, pack everything carefully. Don’t forget ratchet straps. This way, the furniture stays safe.

Good luck!
