Hello everyone,

I am about to start a project assembling several Ikea Hemnes furniture pieces and was wondering if anyone has tips or proven tricks for a quick yet clean assembly.

I understand that the assembly instructions are well organized, but some steps seem unnecessarily complex or time-consuming, especially for larger items like dressers and beds.

I am particularly interested in strategies for organizing the parts, which tools are useful beyond the included Allen key, and if there are any shortcuts that can noticeably reduce the time required without compromising stability.

Any advice on the order of the assembly steps or ways to avoid common mistakes would also be very helpful.

Thanks in advance for your experiences and suggestions!

Hello, the most important thing is to start by sorting all parts alphabetically or by number. This way, you can find everything faster without long searching.

Also, a cordless screwdriver with a torque limiter can be very helpful, as the included hex key is often not ideal for many screws. Do not tighten too much to avoid damaging the wood.

It is best to work in small sections and frequently check the alignment of the parts to avoid adjustments later.

Oh yes, I know that feeling all too well! But don’t get discouraged—patience really pays off, especially with the HEMNES furniture 🙂

What I always do is sort all the small parts into little bowls or containers and keep the workspace around the assembly area clear. That already makes everything feel easier.

And having a second person to hold parts in place and make adjustments can work wonders!

You’ll definitely manage it—I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you! If you let me know exactly which piece you’re stuck on, I’d be happy to help you more specifically.

I completely agree and would like to add: for assembling the HEMNES series, it can be useful to have a small rubber mallet on hand to give light taps when wooden dowels need to fit precisely.

Furthermore, I recommend strictly following the instructions step by step, but at the same time laying out all parts relevant to each step in advance. This way, you avoid long searches during assembly.

A structured approach saves a surprising amount of time and prevents frustration.

And don’t worry, even if the beginning feels awkward, assembly will improve with every piece of furniture! Good luck.
