Hello everyone, I recently bought the IKEA Platsa shelving units and now face the challenge of organizing them as efficiently and clearly as possible. My question is: Are there any tips or proven methods specifically for organizing Platsa shelves? I am particularly interested in recommendations for dividing the compartments, using boxes or inserts, as well as practical advice for everyday use of the modules to optimize storage space and improve accessibility. Maybe someone has experience with certain organization systems or clever tricks that significantly enhance handling of the Platsa series? Many thanks in advance for your advice!

Oh yes, I love questions like this! 🎉 About a year ago, I organized my Platsa shelves by using different boxes and baskets to divide the compartments by theme – for example, one box for office supplies, one for cables and electronics, and one for seasonal clothing. It’s important to define clear categories and then label the boxes accordingly – this saves a lot of time because you won’t have to search forever! 😄

Also try to make use of the height of the compartments by using stackable boxes, so everything stays neat and you can maximize the space. And don’t be afraid of color: use colored boxes to quickly get an overview! Good luck, you can do it!!

I find it very helpful to first analyze the types of items you want to store and then configure the Platsa modules accordingly. For the Platsa series, the following steps are especially useful:

- First, you should measure the depth and height of your modules precisely so that inserts and boxes fit perfectly; although IKEA offers some ready-made inserts, custom options (for example from third-party suppliers) can often create better optimized storage space.

- It is important to organize the shelf zones based on access frequency: place frequently used items in the lower or middle compartments, and items you need less often either at the top or bottom.

- Use small boxes or dividers for smaller items to avoid clutter. Loose cables or tools are often a big problem; clearly labeled containers can help here.

- You should definitely pay attention to stability when loading, especially if your shelving connects multiple modules.

What I would like to know is: where exactly will the shelf be placed? Living room, workspace, bedroom? Depending on that, a different solution regarding appearance and organizational system might be worthwhile. If you want, I can also suggest a sketch—just provide more details!

I can confirm this tip. For my Platsa shelves, I simply used standard stackable boxes. This way, you can fit much more inside and easily take the boxes out.

Also, make sure not to overfill the compartments, otherwise it gets cluttered.
