Hello everyone,

I’m currently reorganizing my Ikea Platsa drawers and was wondering if anyone here in the forum might have tips or proven methods for sorting these specific drawers.
I’ve already considered using small boxes and dividers, but I’ve noticed that the different-sized compartments and drawer profiles of the PLATSA system are quite flexible, yet also present some challenges for structured storage.
Are there efficient sorting concepts, recommendations for suitable organizers, or practical strategies that optimize storage space while keeping things orderly, visible, and easily accessible?
I welcome any ideas, including concrete experience-based tips or advice on common mistakes to avoid when sorting.

I completely understand that the many options with Platsa can be a bit overwhelming.

Maybe it helps to start by experimenting with just one or two drawers before remodeling everything. This way, you get a feel for how the layouts work in practice and can better adjust the organization to fit your daily routine.

How do you feel about sorting so far? Does the variety work in your favor or does it feel more confusing?

Hello Tarken,

I would like to revisit how you can keep the organization consistently stable. The challenge with PLATSA is that the drawers are very spacious, which can easily lead to mixing up items.

A few recommendations:
- Use different lining materials such as non-slip mats on the drawer floor to prevent smaller boxes from sliding around.
- Sort thematically, for example, separate electronics, stationery, or kitchen utensils.
- Use different heights for different priorities.

It is important to develop a concept before starting to organize
I agree with this because without a plan, it’s easy to lose track.

Ultimately, the goal is that when you open the drawer, you immediately know where everything is without having to search for a long time.

Absolutely right. It saves nerves and time.

Additionally, I recommend choosing modular boxes and dividers whenever possible. This way, you can adjust individual compartments as needed without having to empty the entire drawer.

Also, make sure the inserts fit well with the drawer height. Otherwise, you could lose storage space or the boxes might shift.

That was a challenge for me at first as well. Clear planning helps tremendously.

I fully support that.

In addition to the stability of the arrangement, I recommend equipping frequently used drawers with a labeling system if necessary.

Modern binder rings or small labels, which you place visibly on the outside or inside, improve long-term organization and save time.

It is important to maintain order consistently. Once established, categories should be regularly reviewed to prevent disorder.

Absolutely. I also recommend quickly checking the drawers at least every few months and adjusting the system if necessary. This way, good intentions remain effective in the long term.

Additionally, I want to point out that if you plan your sorting well, you can fully take advantage of PLATSA: this flexible system also allows you to add extra drawers or modules later on if your storage needs change.
