Hello everyone, I am planning to furnish my small bathroom with furniture from the Ikea Hemnes series but have no idea how to do this without making the space feel overcrowded or cramped. Are there any experienced users who have tips or tricks, especially for the Hemnes furniture in small bathrooms? I am particularly looking for advice on making the most of the limited space, color schemes, and possibly installation or adjustments to fit the room size. I would appreciate any suggestions!

Hello pauto, your question is very precisely formulated, and the topic is naturally interesting because the Hemnes series does include some quite bulky pieces. Generally, I recommend first measuring the available space carefully and then choosing Hemnes units that are not too bulky in terms of height and depth. For small bathrooms, the following has proven effective:

- Use the narrower dressers or tall cabinets from the series.
- Make sure that white or light finishes dominate to visually enlarge the space.
- If possible, use wall mounting for the base cabinets to create more floor space and make the bathroom feel airier.

Could you provide more details about the bathroom layout? Is it rectangular, corner-shaped, or something else?

Additionally, when installing water dispensers and shelves, it is advisable to consider the exhaust ventilation and water connections to avoid unnecessary adjustments during installation.

This is a very important point. I would also recommend slightly modifying the typical Hemnes style: replace the handles with slimmer, less rustic models. This will make the furniture look more modern and less bulky.

One last tip: the large mirrored cabinets from the series can enhance the sense of space when installed—ideally with LED lighting behind the mirror for indirect light.

Be sure to choose the Hemnes dresser with shallow drawers so nothing protrudes into the room. Light colors are essential, and avoid too many decorations in the bathroom. Check the wall opening for radiators or pipes in advance to ensure the furniture fits.

I understand how frustrating it can be to furnish a small bathroom and then see those large pieces of furniture and wonder: Will this even fit? I had the Hemnes series in my bathroom and found it quite overwhelming at first. But with a bit of patience and some bold choices (for example, less is more), it worked out well in the end. A tip from me: Take your time with the planning, measure the spaces multiple times, and try out individual modules if possible. I have one more question for you: What are your exact measurements and how much storage space do you need? Hemnes offers a lot of options, but not every model is suitable for small rooms.

Can you specify the layout of the bathroom? Rectangular, corner, or other?

The bathroom is rectangular, approximately 2.5 x 1.8 meters (8.2 x 5.9 feet). The door opens toward the window, which is located on the opposite wall. The shower is right next to the door, the toilet is beside the wall, and opposite the door there will be a washbasin area with cabinetry. I mainly need storage for towels, cleaning supplies, and some toiletries.
